8/28/2013- Holy guacamole!! I don’t know what you have been up to but we have been working our butts off here in Virginia. What a fantastic time we have been having getting settled into the new facility that has become The Pear Tree Ranch. I hope you have been over to the About Pear Tree Ranch page to see the pictures I put up. I also created a Pear Tree Ranch Facebook page which you can use to keep updated on all that we are doing including horses in development and events we host. Click Here to follow us on Facebook. This update I would love to share with you about some of my new horses and the experiences I have been having with them. I have a new gelding that goes by Lil’ Grey. He is a grula colored horse that is turning grey. He is a Left Brained horse versus the very right brained partner of mine Newton. Lil’ Grey is a great mix of extrovert and Introvert. This horse is tough as nails and going to be a fantastic cow horse. It is such a big difference to play with him and his horseinality compared to Newton. When this horse came to me yo couldn’t have beat him into a canter if you tried. He also pulled back so hard he smoked the 22′ line around the saddle horn when I ponied him to help him get better at following a feel. Now he is a great partner and a joy to be around versus a bully. I have a black mare that looks just like Pat Parelli’s mare Magic and her name is Coco. She is a right brain introverted horse and can be very scared and she is very sensitive. Having handled and developed more than one of these horses and some of them quite extreme, she is more fun than challenging. She is such a sweet mare and going to be a super horse without a doubt. I can not wait to be able to share her with the world. It will take time to get her confidence up and give her a strong foundation to stand on, but look out for this pretty girl! The reason I share about these horses with you is the learning boost that comes with handling different horses that are different horseinalities. I encourage you to finish your Level 4 in all 4 Savvies so that you can have the quality horsemanship to offer the horses that come after your levels horse. The more horses you handle and learn to communicate with the better horseman you will become. If you only ever talked to one person your whole life, I ask you if you would be a great communicator? We are wrapping up our first group of Horses that were in for development, and experience packages. I will be heading out to Colorado for the Summit and then to Illinois for my fall visit. After that I will be in Virginia for the winter and bringing in the next group of students, four and two legged. I can not begin to explain how amazing it is here and I hope you make the time to come for a visit. And I hope that it is sooner rather than later! Jake
