10/12/2011

10/12/2011-  Well we hosted our open house event at The Beekman Center in order to raise some money for paying my insurance and Parelli licensing fee.  We had lots of people out and they got to meet me and my family as well as my horses and some of the horses I have been riding.  We fed everyone lunch on Saturday and my family made chili, which was made on a propane camping stove because the power was out at home.  We also had cider, apples and nice rolls to round out the lunch that we served.  I gave lessons for the afternoon that were all done on a donation basis and we had a great turnout of participants and auditors.  I gave lessons all day on Sunday to many different levels of students and got to meet some new friends and horses.  It was a great weekend and was fun to bring people to where I have gotten my start teaching, The Beekman Center.

This past week end I traveled to Maple Park, Illinois and taught for three very full days at Flanery Farm.  I gave two days of workshops and we had an Online session each morning and a Freestyle session each afternoon.  I also had private lessons each evening which carried us into the night with the lights on so we could see.  On the last day I taught private lessons all day and we started as the sun was coming up and finished after it went down.  I had SO MUCH fun and got to meet some wonderful people and was taken care of so well by everyone there.  They kept me hydrated, fed and plenty busy.  We made sure we saved some time each day for smiles and laughter too, not just serious horse business.  Special thanks to Deb Roetzer who hosted me in Illinois and organized me to come, Thanks Deb! Thanks to everyone that made the last two events very successful and I look forward to seeing everyone again!  Next weekend holds a trip to the Florida Parelli Ranch to get my truck and say hello to the crew down there.
